Introducing FDgard®, a medical food for the dietary management of Meal-Triggered Indigestion (FD: Functional Dyspepsia). FD symptoms are in the upper belly below the ribs and occur at varying times and intensities. They may include the following: abdominal pain, abdominal burning, feeling full before finishing a meal or feeling bloated after a meal, nausea, and/or excessive belching.

Abdominal pain or discomfort or cramping

Difficulty finishing a meal

What is Meal-Triggered Indigestion?
(FD: Functional Dyspepsia)

Meal-Triggered Indigestion or Functional Dyspepsia is a relatively common and often frustrating condition. Meal-Triggered Indigestion is an under-diagnosed4 and undermanaged condition; about one in six Americans has FD (Functional Dyspepsia)1-3, and is an under-diagnosed4 and under-managed condition.

FD is a disorder of sensation and movement in the organs of the upper digestive tract where the normal downward pumping and squeezing is altered. The intake and uptake (i.e., digestion and absorption) of food nutrients can be affected.

The Epicenter of Functional Dyspepsia (FD)1

The epicenter of FD is in the upper belly. In FD, the stomach does not expand normally in response to a meal, which means the food eaten backs up in the stomach and in the upper part of the small intestine.

What is inside FDgard®, and why were these ingredients selected?

Each FDgard® capsule contains caraway oil and l-Menthol, the primary component of peppermint oil. A combination of caraway oil and peppermint oil (primary component: I-Menthol) has been shown in several clinical studies to be effective in the management of FD2.

“One will do anything to feel better, so my husband and I went to CVS/pharmacy and luckily found one remaining box on the shelf, I bought it, took it that afternoon and again the next morning. To my surprise and amazement, I felt great within a short time, and continued feeling wonderful.”
